Sonita Alizadeh is an undocumented Afghan illegal immigrant teenager living in the poor suburbs of Tehran, and she’s also an artist, singer and musician. When her family decides she must marry, she creates a video rap against forced marriage that brings her fame and notoriety. This film is suitable for middle school students and older.
The film’s subject, Sonita Alizadeh, as well as Aimee Oberndorfer Le, Advocacy Director of The Strongheart Group, will be present for the Festival.
